Plainfield High School has named Eric Farley as its new Head Varsity Baseball Coach. A Plainfield resident for more than 20 years and a varsity assistant for the past four seasons, Farley brings extensive playing, coaching, and player-development experience to the program. “I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to lead the Plainfield baseball program. This community has been home to my family for more than 20 years, and after coaching kids throughout Plainfield and spending the past four years inside the high school program, this opportunity means a great deal to me" stated Coach Farley. Farley was a three-sport athlete at Franklin Central High School, earning nine varsity letters in baseball, football, and wrestling. A four-year baseball captain, he was a multiple-time All-Conference and All-Marion County selection, the senior team MVP, an Indiana North-South All-Star, and a member of three sectional championship teams. Farley continued his career as a catcher at Indiana University, earning two varsity letters while playing under head coach Bob Morgan. “Coach Farley has been a varsity assistant coach at Plainfield High School for the past four years. He has been instrumental in player development, facility upgrades and fundraising efforts within the baseball program. Coach Farley is well respected in the dugout and brings a wealth of knowledge as he takes over the program.” Athletic Director Michael Menser He has coached baseball, football, and soccer through Plainfield Optimist youth programs. Over the past eight years, Farley has coached travel baseball, where he currently is a coach for Canes Midwest. Coach Farley has provided individual catching instruction for more than a decade, and he conducts an annual winter catching camp. He also remains active in the game as a catcher for the Plainfield Fireballs in the Hoosier Town Association men’s baseball league. Professionally, Farley has spent the past 11 years as a Wealth Management Advisor with TIAA. Farley’s ties to Plainfield are also personal. His son, Nolan, will be a junior at Plainfield High School, while his daughter, Kiersten, a PHS graduate, begins her freshman year at Ball State University this fall to study elementary education. “We want to develop great baseball players and compete for championships, but our responsibility goes beyond baseball. My goal is to build a program that develops young men and makes our players, families, school, alumni, and community proud. I’m excited to get to work.” Go Quakers!
