Plainfield Volleyball had a strong week, picking up two victories – a Mid-State win over Greenwood and a Hendricks County showdown win against Avon. On Tuesday, the Quakers traveled to Greenwood and swept the Woodmen 3–0. Charlee Groninger led the offense with 30 assists and 6 aces, while Audrey Utterback powered down 14 kills, and Macyn Jones added 7 kills. Behind the service line, Evie Ellis contributed 5 aces to round out the dominant team performance. Wednesday’s home matchup against Avon proved to be a battle. The Quakers took the opening set 25–16, but the Orioles fought back to even the match with a tight 26–24 win in the second. Plainfield responded with grit, closing out the match in four sets with scores of 25–16 and 25–19. Audrey Utterback was outstanding Thursday with 25 kills, while middle hitter Marley VanWanzeele added 10 kills. Charlee Groninger was putting the ball right on the net as she recorded 49 assists in the win. Defensively, libero Taylor Donovon shined with 23 digs and 3 aces – capping a special night as she was recognized for reaching 1,000 career digs earlier this season. Donovon, who is committed to Akron, was joined in double figures by Ellis (16 digs), Utterback (14), and Savannah Brock (13). Senior Eliana Tucker chipped in 5 timely kills and a huge block in the decisive set, while junior Kenzi Arnett contributed strong serving and steady passing. The JV and freshman teams both earned wins at Greenwood but came up short against Avon. Next up, the Quakers travel to New Castle on Saturday for a highly competitive day of volleyball. Good luck to the team as they continue their strong season!
