The Plainfield Varsity Volleyball team had an outstanding day on Saturday, going 3-0 to capture the New Castle Invitational Championship. Defensively, the Quakers were balanced across the board—Utterback (11 digs), Kenzie Arnett (7), Savannah Brock (6), and Taylor Donovon (6) kept HSE in check. In the semifinal, Plainfield defeated host New Castle 2-0 to advance to the championship match against Fishers. Facing the Tigers for the third time this season, the Quakers dropped a close opening set 25-23 but responded with grit, winning the final two sets 25-19 and 15-11 to secure the title. Utterback notched her second double-double of the day with 16 kills and 13 digs in the championship. Brock anchored the defense with 20 digs, and Groninger dished out 25 assists to lead the offense. Congratulations to Coach Pax and the Lady Quakers. The JV Volleyball team repeated as the Mooresville JV Invite Champions also on Saturday.
