The Plainfield cross country teams took on elite national competition this past Saturday at the Nike Twilight Invitational at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute — home of the IHSAA State Finals and one of the premier courses in the Midwest. Girls' Race of Champions: The Plainfield girls competed in the highly competitive Race of Champions, which featured top programs from across the United States. Facing a deep field of 390 runners, the Quakers finished 33rd out of 42 teams. Leading the way for Plainfield was Katie Campbell, placing 101st, followed by Adisyn Gorrell (154th), Tinley Woodruff (213th), Madison Weaver (314th), and Hailey Kelley (320th). The group showed strong effort and poise in one of the toughest lineups of the season. Boys Open Blue Race In the Open Blue Race, the Plainfield boys turned in a strong team showing, finishing 22nd out of 86 teams in a massive field of 787 runners. Ryan Evans led the Quakers with an impressive 13th-place finish. He was followed by Zane Deugan (43rd), Jackson Hayes (177th), Zac Siddons (211th), and Tyler Sanchez (353rd) to round out the team’s top five.
